“Harper’s Bazaar” is “European Magazine of the Year”. This was decided by the jury of the European Publishing Awards 2020. The German edition of the international fashion magazine published by Hubert Burda Media thus wins in one of the two main categories in the magazine segment of the Europe-wide competition. Gruner + Jahr’s women’s magazine “Guido,” which was founded in fall 2018, was named “Newcomer of the Year. The awards ceremony will take place during the European Publishing Congress from April 26 to 28, 2020 in Vienna.
This is the second time that the media specialist publisher Oberauer has announced the European Publishing Awards. The awards are presented to journalistically driven media by publishing houses and their service providers from all European markets. A top-class jury evaluated the almost 250 entries. The total of around 60 jury members from 13 countries for the “Magazine”, “Digital” and “Corporate Media” segments include Michela Colamussi (Corriere della sera), Julia Be-cker (Funke Media Group), Clarissa Haller (Siemens), Patrick Horton (Bauer Media Group UK), Julia Jäkel (Gruner + Jahr), Jürgen Kornmann (Deutsche Bahn), Thomas Lindner (FAZ), Philipp Welte (Hubert Burda Media) and many others.
In the digital segment, the independent, predominantly subscription-financed news website Denník N from Slovakia was named “Digital Publishing Platform of the Year”. The winner in the second main category as “Start-up of the Year” was Media Pioneer Publishing, a company led by former “Handelsblatt” publisher Gabor Steingart. New this season is the Corporate Media segment. Here the trophies in the main categories go to Deutsche Telekom as “Content Creator of the Year” and Siemens as “Content Innovator of the Year”.
